Obituary

June 19, 1949 – September 10, 2012

Michael E. Sholtis, age 63, of Mechanicsburg passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012.

Mike was a retired Halifax High School special education teacher and a retired electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 143. He is fondly remembered as a 40-year member of the Harrisburg Rugby Club who coached and refereed rugby, soccer and basketball for more than 35 years. He graduated from West Chester State College in 1969 with a degree in health and physical education.

Mike will be sadly missed by his wife, Susan Sholtis, his son, Lt. Col. Edward Tadd Sholtis, and his daughter, Dr. Heather Sholtis. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Sholtis of Weston, FL, and his sister, Sandra Carroll of New Salem, PA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Dorothea Sholtis of New Salem, and his sister, Nancy Barton of Glen Cove, NY.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 15 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg. Burial will take place in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 14 at the funeral home.
