HRFC Mourns the Passing of John Hoerner, Mayor of Highspire

With heavy hearts, HRFC mourns the passing of John Hoerner, Mayor of Highspire and beloved friend of the club and its members. Mayor Hoerner gave Harrisburg Rugby the closest thing it had to a real home pitch, by allowing us to play and practice on Memorial Field for the past several years. Our deepest condolences go out to Mayor Hoerner’s family, and to the greater Highspire community.

We would like to have a great showing of HRFC members at the funeral on Saturday, 1/7, at 11am, to show our appreciation for his dedicated relationship with HRFC.

All services will be held at Highspire United Methodist Church (170 2nd St, Highspire, PA 17034). Look to meet in the parking lot of the church between 10:30am – 10:45am on Saturday and/or park cars at Memorial Park and carpool to the church.

Viewing: Friday, January 6th – 6pm – 8pm
Viewing: Saturday, January 7th – 9am – 11am
Funeral: Saturday, January 7th – 11am

There will be a gathering at Champions following the funeral.

We’re Celebrating 30 Years!

This Saturday marks the 30th year for the BEST 7’s tournament on the East Coast! AWESOME!

We would like to invite you to come out to Palmyra on June 25th to watch rugby and hang out with friends all day long! After last year’s day-long deluge, we put in a request with the Rugby Gods for better weather this year – and it looks like they listened! It’s going to be a beautiful day with perfect weather for some 7s Rugby! We hope to see all of you and your friends there!

MANDATORY Release / Roster Forms

• Must be filled out in advance of first game, PRIOR TO PLAYING FIRST MATCH OF THEY DAY – NO EXCEPTIONS!
• Please use the roster which may be downloaded from HERE. One for each team entered. Roster limit twelve (12) per side entered. Under tournament rules players must stay with team they are rostered on throughout competition unless captain of opposing side consents in advance to roster amendment.
• Team score sheets can be downloaded HERE. These are great for keeping track of match scoring.

Harrisburg Senators

Harrisburg Senators Fundraiser Ticket Sales

It’s baseball season!!!!!!

We will be having our Senators fundraiser again this year. How does this work? We will be selling vouchers which are good for any Senators home game. You can get these through Mel for $11 or Reapsome will have them at 7s practice. When you want to attend a Senators game, you take the voucher to the box office and exchange it for a ticket. There are designated sections the vouchers are good for but you can always upgrade to a different section if you desire. There are plenty of home games this summer and it a fun, cheap event to attend.

*** If you would like to purchase 10 vouchers at one time (you don’t have to use them all at the same game) we are running a deal that you get the 10th one for free, so for $99 you can have tickets to 10 Senators home games.

Also, tentatively on July 11th there is a rugby night at the Senators games. Some local teams will be showcasing rugby for the community. We are gathering more information regarding the event but it would be great if we can get a large group to go in Harrisburg gear to promote Harrisburg Rugby. Keep your eyes open for future emails regarding this night.
