On behalf of reading rugby we send you guys our condolences LJ was a great man. We’re sry for your loss. Our prayers go out to your team his friends and family. – Jason Bartlow
I was so sad to hear about the death of another Harrisburg rugger, L J Miller. Mike Sholtis’s death was the wake up call last fall that got me involved again with all my old rugby friends. Sometimes life is like a roller coaster. We were all having such a great time at the banquet. It was like back in the day. And then this, the very next day.
I just would like to say that I learned more about life from my rugby friends than anywhere else. I went to college at the University of Pennsylvania and law school at Widener, but my real education in life and living didn’t begin until I got involved with rugby. If we learn anything from this, it is to appreciate your friends and family and live every day to the fullest as long as you live. Rest in peace. – Jim Dopkin
Condolences on your loss Harrisburg. – Jim Hegarty
Rest in peace my friend will never be forgotten – Jon Rehkugler
I had the pleasure of meeting LJ when I was his teacher at Red Land High School. I remember thinking what a character he was. At the time, I don’t think rugby was even on LJ’s radar. He eventually came out for West Shore United and I’m pretty sure he puked at his first practice. I don’t think running was something his body was used to. I figured he would never come back, but he did. He continued to show up once in awhile, and played in a few B side matches and made a lot of new friends. He was a definitely a good character to have around the team. He got more serious about rugby after graduation and I’m so happy that he found a rugby family with Harrisburg RFC where he really blossomed into a very solid player. All the current West Shore players remember LJ as the crazy, barefoot guy that would run touch at our home matches. Ironically, the last time I saw him was at the WSU Alumni match for our other fallen brother Ryan Heffernan that was taken away way too soon in a car crash. I’m so, so sad that another young player, young man and friend has left us too soon. I’m really going to miss him. – Sean Robinson
I only knew you for a year, but with your personality it seemed like a lifetime. Harrisburg Rugby Football Club has lost a brother. You will be missed, L.J. – Eric Kovac
We still can’t believe you’re gone. We’re all just waiting for you to cone back from wherever you’ve been, and just walk in the house and smile, and laugh. In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

John 14:1-4
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

The boys & I are saddened and sincerely sorry for your loss. I will always remember LJ as one of the smallest kid on the RLMF team. He was small but I have to say he certainly was one of the best & the mightiest player out. A small kid with a big heart, boy what a joy it was to watch him play. As the yrs went by I would run into him every once in awhile & still with that big heart he gave me that respectful “Hello Mrs. Morning how are you” greeting. LJ will be missed by many but know his memories will always touch someones heart. Our warmest condolence to you and your family.
